Simply Successful Secrets Meme
Gayla over at MomGadget tagged me for this exciting new meme.
This meme calls for each blogger to share those little secrets that have helped them to succeed. The purpose of the meme is simple. To help each other.
The originator of the meme is also tracking the results of this meme. He can probably explain it better than I can.
So, without much further ado, here is what I have to say about the “secrets of my success.”
The truth about “my success” is that it’s not my success at all. I firmly believe that God is in control of my life and that everything that I am and everything that I have comes from Him.
I can, however, share a few tips that I’ve learned along the way.
Tip number one. Direct your energies towards those things that are eternal and not towards those things that are fleeting. The only things that I know about that are eternal are God and people. The times that I’ve not followed this tip, I’ve really, really regretted it.
Tip number two. You can do more than you think you can. The times that I’ve come to the end of myself are the times that I’ve learned what I can really accomplish. To be more precise, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Tip number three. Don’t burn your bridges, no matter how tempting it might be to do so. I can honestly say that I could comfortably reapply for work at any company where I’ve ever worked. This principle applies to relationships also.
Tip number four. You’re never to old to learn from life. No matter what your circumstances, there’s a lesson to be had. Did you just have a success? That’s great! Now, figure out what worked. Did your plans just fail? That’s too bad. Now, figure out what went wrong and fix it.
Tip number five. Don’t take yourself too seriously. There’s plenty of room in life for fun, don’t forget to take advantage of all the joy that life has to offer. Remember to stop and smell the roses.
Now, comes the fun part. Who will I tag? I think that I’m going to pick a few new faces and skip some of the usual folks.
1. Mihaela. This meme seems right up her alley and I can’t wait to see what she has to say.
2. Paula. Of course! I have to tag Paula. I know that she has some interesting thoughts to share.
3. KWiz. Her blog is about walking in wisdom, so I know she’ll be happy to share some with us.
4. Kivi . She’s got a great blog with lots of great tips. I’m betting that she has some success secrets.
5. Yvonne. This topic seems like something we might talk about during a virtual coffee break.
6. Phil. According to his latest post, he’s really getting into blogging AND he’s getting famous visitors.
7. Stixter. Because this blog gives me a reason to use Google’s translation tool.
8. Gina. Just because I want to tag her for a meme!! (I’m allowed, it’s my blog.)
I can’t wait to see the answers!!

Hi Laura
You want to know my secrets, hey? Hmmm…
Okay, just putting the coffee on. I might need to percolate those ideas for a few days, first though. Will let you know when I’ve posted.
Thanks for the tag.

Thanks, Laura. I’m taking a blog vacation this week to head to Chicago — woo hoo! — so I’ll take the time to think about this new meme.
Your posting is really thoughtful and full of wisdom.
As always…

Thanks for the tag.
I was working on 10
Sure-Fire Ways to Fail as a Freelance Writer when I saw it. It’s not
completely in line with the meme (daily habits), but I hope it’s helpful nevertheless!
All the best,
Kivi

Laura,
Thanks for your wisdom. You know, it’s interesting. Total trust and faith in the Lord precedes success, doesn’t it? I have seen so many people striving to find satisfaction in their lives–working more hours to make more money, choosing the wrong kind of friends, all sorts of things. So often, they never find that fulfillment, or it takes them a long time to find Him. It’s so easy. It’s God and I can see just from your posts that you have Him and I just think that’s awesome. Thanks for sharing!

That number five is one I need to incorporate into my days constantly. My husband reminds me of this one often.
Thanks Laura! I’ve posted my meme as well…

Thanks for passing this one on. It’s interesting to see how everyone defines themselves differently.

Thanks for the encouragement Lisa. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I had to give credit where credit is due. The credit doesn’t really belong with me.
Gayla, thanks for tagging me. I’m enjoying finding all the responses and getting to “know” my blogging buddies better.

Laura,
You have a powerful list here - thanks for participating!
I have just returned from a few days offline, so I am playing catch up, and I see A LOT of people have been participating, which is awesome! I will be totaling up all of the responses at my blog after everyone has had a chance to put together their success tips.
I love all of the things on your list, Laura, and in reference to #2, check out this video clip from the movie ‘Facing the Giants’. It’s just like you said - you can do more than you think you can!

Thanks for coming by Aaron. I look forward to seeing the total, although once a meme is started it is difficult to tell when it is done. We just rented the Facing the Giants video a few weeks ago, and we LOVED it. I may just have to buy a copy of it.
