The Giant All-In-One Meme Post

Why you should read it: you never know, I may tag you!

Alas, I have fallen behind in my responses to memes. As a result I have several memes that I have not responded to at all. This post attempts to respond to some of them in one fell swoop.

Here go the memes!

Gayla over at MomGadget wants to know why I blog. Denise at Freelancing Journey wants to know what I think about productivity. Mihaela at eWritings Online Public Relations asks me about my goals, dreams, and ideals.

I’ll tackle the memes one by one.

Why Do I Blog?

I first answered this question in this post, but enough time has passed that I can examine the question again.

I would say that I still blog to help people, to attract potential clients, to be part of a community, to experiment, and to make money. To these reasons I would add: to have a voice about concerns that touch my heart.

Who do I tag to explain why they blog? Let’s try Nikki, Michi, Tammi, and Lisa.

Productivity

I am actually a big fan of life balance. If I commit to a job, you can count on me to get it done. However, I prefer to reserve time for faith, family, and friends. To that end, I choose to work efficiently over working long hours.

A few productive suggestions that I have include:

  • Keep a calendar, daytimer, or other project-tracking tool.
  • Use lists. I’ve always been a big to-do list person. If I have more than one or two things to accomplish in a single day, then I usually have a to-do list.
  • Ask questions up front. It’s better to ask questions for clarification before you commit to a project than to suddenly realize that there is more work that you anticipated.
  • Keep learning. There is always something new that can help you improve your skillset.

How do I choose to tell us about productivity? I tag Mihaela, Doris, Lisa, Eliza, and Beth.

Goals, Dreams, and Ideals

I found this meme to be particularly tough. In a lot of ways my goals, dreams, and ideals are entwined.

I have many specific goals relating to my family, my work, and my world. I can sum up all of my goals by saying that I wish to improve in those areas. My dream is to share the hope that I find only in my faith in Christ. My ideal is to live according to the principles that are laid out in the Bible.

For this meme, I wish to tag Paula, Harmony, Angela, and Denise.

  1. Good thinking!

  2. Productivity? That’s a tough one. :) Have I told you recently how much I like your style? Here you are, giving us the best example of productivity by mixing all the memes together. Have you shaked well?

  3. Wow! Thanks!

Here I was, all afraid that people would hate the mixed meme post.

  4. Thanks for the tag…will do it some time this week. I have one a chinese freeze tag to do first. Of course you would tag me with this…I’m so not organized. lol.

  5. Thanks for the tag Laura, the timing is great. I feel the need to reasses some of my goals.

  6. Hi Laura - Smart idea to combine your memes into one post.

I, too, am behind on some memes — and I also, like you, believe in balance.

    Thanks for tagging me,
    Paula

  7. Let’s see, are your comments posting? Just making sure since I just submitted one.

  8. Laura,

Love this post! So happy to hear that we both share the same faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! I hadn’t known that before today! So glad I found your blog!

    Yours in the Faith,
    Jeanne

  9. That’s the nice thing about memes–you get to share some personal information.

  10. Laura,

This is really great post and reminds us about life balance and keeping a calendar up to date.

  11. Hi Teresa!

Thanks for commenting! I have a purse calendar that I carry so that I can track both personal and business commitments.

  12. Oh yeah! I think this is my first meme for Gack Inc! I’ll have to give this one some thought, but I’ll definitely participate. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  13. Why I blog? Geez….lots of reasons, really. I want to get work and make money, but that’s not all I’m about. I like to blog so that I can share my thoughts and ideas with others, and I like to know what they think, too. I’m new at this blogging thing, although not new to writing for a living….I’ve been doing that full-time for 7 years now. When I blog, I can share what’s going on in my life, as well as what’s going on in the world, with just enough anonymity that people won’t be running up to me on the street and pummeling me if they didn’t like something I said. :o)

  14. Hi Laura,

I know this took awhile, but I wanted to let you know I’ve now posted the meme for which you tagged me. Thank you for the tag. It ended up fitting right in with what God has been leading me through right now.
